I am an artist based in Japan, creating under the name .conatus. While I was coding inverse problem analysis in electromagnetic field theory during my graduate studies, I noticed that the vector diagrams created by the arrangement of magnetic materials exhibited artistically fascinating behavior. This was my first encounter with computer art.

Inspired by cymatics, I began creating geometric works using analytical methods with Processing. Later, I discovered fx(hash) through the former Twitter platform, which led me to more seriously pursue my activities as an artist.

My creative approach is based on three styles. First, an analytical style where I output results that meet certain conditions, then select the best ones and refine them further. Second, a style of exploring intuitively simple and appealing algorithms through live coding. And third, a style of building the whole gradually from the details while based on a concept.

Finally, about the origin of the name ".conatus." The dot (.) symbolizes a file extension, which serves to correctly communicate the type and format of data to both computer systems and users. This is a very important concept to me. "Conatus" is a philosophical concept used by Spinoza and is my most beloved word. I encourage you to look up its meaning :)
